Follow, unfollow, or block channels and topics in Apple News

Follow your favorite news channels and topics to read top stories in your Today feed. If you change your mind later, you can unfollow or block them.

Follow a news channel or topic

If you're reading on your iPhone, tap the Following tab at the bottom of your screen to see everything that you follow.

On your iPad, you can find the channels and topics that you follow in the sidebar under Channels & Topics. On your Mac, look in the sidebar under Following.

Follow a channel or topic on your iPhone

Browse for a channel or topic in the Following tab or search in the Search tab. When you find the channel or topic that you want, tap the Follow buttonFollow button.

Follow a channel or topic on your iPad or Mac

Browse or search for a channel or topic in the sidebar. Tap or click the Follow buttonFollow button next to the channel or topic that you want.

Unfollow a news channel or topic

If you're following a news channel or topic that you're no longer interested in, you can unfollow it.

News stories related to the channels and topics that you've unfollowed might still appear in your Today feed.

Unfollow news on your iPhone

  1. Tap the Following tab.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap the Remove button Remove button next to a channel or topic, then tap Unfollow.

Unfollow news on your Mac

  1. Click the Sidebar buttonSidebar button.
  2. Under Following, click a channel or topic.
  3. From the File menu at the top of the screen, choose Unfollow Channel.

Block a news channel or topic

If you don't want any stories from a specific channel or topic to appear, you can block that channel or topic. Once it's blocked, Apple News won't show that publisher or topic in your Today feed.

Special sections curated by the Apple News editors might still include these channels or topics.

Block news on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Tap the channel or topic to open it.
  2. Tap the More Options buttonMore Options button.
  3. Choose Block Channel or Block Topic.

Block news on your Mac

  1. Click the channel or topic to open it.
  2. Click the Share buttonShare button.
  3. Choose Block Channel or Block Topic.

Unblock a news channel or topic

You can unblock a channel or topic, or see the ones that you've blocked.

Unblock news on your iPhone

  1. Tap the Following tab.
  2. Scroll down and tap Blocked Channels & Topics.
  3. Tap the Remove buttonRemove button, then tap Unblock.

Unblock news on your iPad

Unblock news on your Mac

  1. Choose File in the menu bar.
  2. Choose Manage Blocked Channels & Topics.
  3. Click the Remove button Remove button, then click Unblock.

See only the news that you follow

To have only the channels and topics that you follow appear in your Today feed, turn on Restrict Stories in Today.

Special sections curated by the Apple News editors in Today might still appear in your Today feed.

Restrict Stories in Today on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap News.
  3. Tap Restrict Stories in Today.

Restrict Stories in Today on your Mac

From the menu bar choose News > Preferences, then select "Restrict stories in Today."
